i though i would look at something which has always been an issue for me, the same for most woman i'de imagine- body image. i want to explore body image vs natural beauty.
As you can see im comparing myself to a model, something which i can't help myself from doing so. We live in a day and age where pressure to be thin and "beautiful" is a necessary, People are fickle and quick to judge. But does being thin make your feel more beautiful, happier, more content? comparing this idea, to the work i have been producing for the past 2 years on flowers. flowers to me are a signature of beauty and elegance. It is possible for human's to be this way naturally at all? With constant diets and eating disorders, the idea oh human and natural beauty has been lost, this is why i look to nature. .... to be continued.

End of second year

so yeah the end of second year...
these are the two paintings that i have decided to exhibit.

Friday, 8 April 2011

Acrylic paint, and acrylic mediums used( gel gloss)
I did this painting over a series of weeks. My main focus was to get the colours right, i wanted the flower to appear bright and bold and full of life, hope, i feel the use of the acrylic mediums helped me to achieve this.
I feel like i achieved alot by doing this painting, it took my away from everyday issues and made me forget , took me away to another place. Somewhere more colourful, somewhere more beautiful, an illusion of colour.

Mono Prints.

I did these mono prints to help loosen up my style, enabling me to be more free within my painting regarding brush strokes.
I enjoy mono printing as it is expressive and doesn't have to be controlled, which is what i like.

New Work

well...this thing is in need of updating. Been busy in the studio recently painting
, my work's changed alot over the last few months. Its gone in a new direction, more out of the box, working with different mediums and experimenting more with paint and paint application.
Currently been looking at alot of work by John Hoyland, Fiona Rae, Dan Perfect ( who are both a couple, makes sense) check out their work though, probably two of my favourite artists at the moment. Also monet a much more tradition painter, but the flower is something major within his work, which relates to my practice.
Anyway lots more work to come, these photos above are work from jan/feb time.
